The Velcon Model AFS Drumfiller is a totally automatic liquid filling system designed to perform the entire start-to-finish, debung-to-seal filling operation with out the aid of an operator. The AFS comes in 3 different models, designed to fill and seal a drum every 90, 60, or 45 seconds depending on the model selected. It automatically and in sequence positions an incoming drum, locates the bung, removes the bung plug, fills the drum with liquid product to a predetermined net weight, reinstalls and torques the bung, and applies a dust seal. The AFS is designed to handle either new or reconditioned drums - with height variations of up to 1-1/2 inches. In addition, it can be adapted to fill other size containers (either steel or plastic) and can be completely enclosed for vapor containment.To facilitate safe, clean, accurate filling, each Model AFS is equipped with numerous standard features, including foot valves at the tips of the fill lances, adjustable dribble-flow controls, fume collectors and wiper rings. The filler also incorporates solid-state microcomputer-controlled weightmeters and an on-board programmable logic controller (PLC). Additional features, such as easy accessibility to components and standardization of parts, lead to low maintenance and minimum spare parts inventory.
